Dutch police and justice statistics for various periods of 1979 on offenses, courts, shoplifting, and suicides, as well as data on bankruptcies and fires are presented.
Abstract
Offense statistics for August 1979, list offenses and nonindictable offenses reported to the police and the Royal Marechaussee (Military Police) according to province, groups of municipalities, and offense types. Court statistics for the first half of 1979 relate to cases before ordinary courts, settlement by public prosecutors and judges in district courts, sentences imposed, and cases tried and cases appealed in military courts, with sentences. Shoplifting data for the first three quarters of 1979 show data on reporting; age, sex, nationality, and residence of offenders; and types of goods stolen. Suicides are tallied according to residence, sex, age, nationality, religious affiliation, profession, education, motives, method used, prior convictions, and month of offense. A graph traces the monthly course of bankruptcies from 1975 to October 1979, and bankruptcy statistics compare data for the first three quarters of 1977, 1978, and 1979 by province, the 17 largest municipalities, and fire type. An overview of the contents of the 1979 montlhly statistical reports is provided. --in Dutch.
