The report describes the status of California Youth Authority's Affirmative Action Program for March 31, 1979 to March 31, 1980.
Abstract
Sections of the report focus on departmental Affirmative Action trends; the distribution of facility personnel, parole region personnel, and headquarters personnel; and the distribution of personnel by occupational categories. The total number of personnel on March 31, 1980 included 1,794 minorities, or 36 percent of the work force. The Affirmative Action goal is 37.4 percent for minorities, and 36.3 percent for women. An analysis by ethnicgroups revealed that Blacks constitute 18.6 percent of personnel (1.8 percentage points below the goal); Spanish surnamed, 13.3 percent (0.4 below goal); Asian, 2.3 percent (0.5 above goal); Native American, 0.3 percent (0.4 below goal); Filipino, 0.6 percent (0.1 below goal); and other minorities, 0.9 percent (0.6 above goal). Statistical tables are included, and an appendix contains personnel classification categories.
