This directory lists programs for battered women, such as shelter, hotlines, and counseling, offered in the 50 States based on information collected between July 1979 and January 1980.
Abstract
Shelters for battered women and other services are listed alphabetically by State and city or town. In addition to the names, address, and telephone numbers for each program, information is provided in specific services and funding. The name of a contact person is included if available. Types of services include 24-hour hotlines, emergency transportation, victim advocacy, counseling, legal aid, community education, child care, emergency medical treatment, emergency housing, and liaison with police and hospitals. A form that organizations serving battered women can use to revise information presented in the directory is appended.
