The new packaging and transmittal system for fungible evidence which is used by the U.S. Army's Criminal Investigation Division is described.
Abstract
The system consists of an electric heat sealer, an embosser, polyster/polyolefin bags (nine and one-half by sixteen inches, and six and one-half by eight inches), and evidence labels. This system will be used for all fungible evidence except serological evidence. The bags can be compartmentalized in order to hold several items of evidence separately by folding and then sealing along the fold. The military procedures for labelling and for reusing the bags are outlined. Photographs of the system are included.
