Recruitment goals are to employ individuals of high character and to prepare candidates for police exams. Training seeks to provide potential officers with knowledge of laws and techniques and to develop their analytical abilities, social understanding, attitudes necessary for exemplary conduct, and physical skill and coordination. Police educators are expected to teach, to develop programs and teaching aids, and to conduct research. School administrators must keep schools running smoothly, evaluate personnel needs, and clearly define educational policy. Recruitment issues discussed include cycles of police personnel needs; general and particular requirements for police personnel at various levels, including administrative personnel; origins and education of recruits; and recruiting women.
