This second volume of the Office of Law Enforcement Assistance grant #197 which deals with correctional staff training in Illinois presents most of the more important documents or reports produced during the course of grant activities.
Abstract
The objectives of the grant were to survey staff training needs in each Illinois correctional unit, with special emphasis on the adult offender; survey community resources appropriate for the needs and programs of correctional staff training; and design staff training programs for correctional personnel which were in line with current situations and modern corrections theory. Each of these objectives was integrated into project activities. The materials presented deal with a survey of local correctional institution administrators, the current status of staff training in Illinois corrections, and staff training needs in Illinois corrections, and staff training in the Illinois Youth Commission. Other materials concerning an assessment of staff training needs in Illinois corrections, correctional staff training demonstration projects, a newsletter for Illinois correctional staff training, and films for correctional staff training are presented. Other subjects include Illinois corrections, a summary of a continuation grant proposal, an outline for the coming year, and an analysis of a Department of Public Safety staff questionnaire.
