This 1979 annual crime report of index crimes in Nevada is intended for the Nevada criminal justice system to aid in planning programs to combat crime in the State.
Abstract
Participating agencies in the Nevada Uniform Crime Report (UCR) are listed, and an overview introduces the Nevada UCR program, its relationship to the national program, UCR requirements, explanations of Part 1 offenses (index crimes), the purpose and objectives of the program, and reporting procedure. Standard definitions for Part 1 and Part 2 offenses are presented, together with the influences on criminal activity and geographical factors that are taken into consideration in crime reporting. A Nevada crime synopsis is given, along with crime index offenses reported by month and Nevada crime trends for 1975-79. A summary of Nevada crimes for 1979 uses the Part 1 index crime classifications. Part 1 offenses are tabulated by county. Tables, diagrams, line and bar graphs, and figures further illustrate trends, victims, weapons used, clearance rates, race, sex, and age for each of the index crimes. Mention is made of statistics related to arson. Additional tables demonstrate total arrests in Nevada for 1979, narcotic arrest data, and total arrests by sex, by age, and by race. An appendix provides definitions of Part 2 offenses as defined by the UCR program.
