Abstract
State identification documents described include motor vehicle department-issued licenses and various identification cards. Documents from the Canadian Provinces, Puerto Rico, and the Yukon Territory are also covered. Data on drivers' licenses is presented alphabetically by State; and the currently issued license is shown, followed by older license formats that are still valid. Vehicle registration information and license plates are also arranged alphabetically by State; and colors, expiration dates, and number systems receive attention. Federal identification documents that are described include those issued by the Armed Forces, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, U.S. Immigration and Naturalization, investigative agencies, and Social Security. Major credit cards are also described. Names, addresses, and telephone numbers for security contacts are included with each entry; photographs of many documents are present. A Federal and State directory of public agencies lists further names, addresses, and telephone numbers, and an appendix provides information on the detection of altered and fradulent licenses.
