Condensed project profiles for each of 12 demonstration centers of the National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect are presented.
Abstract
The demonstration centers profiled are the Family Resource Center of Albuquerque, N.Mex.; Can-DO of Belton, Tex.; the Metropolitan Areas Protective Services of Chicago; the Evanston Mental Health Services Center (Illinois); the Connecticut Child Abuse and Neglect Demonstration Center of Hartford; and the Family Stress Center of Honolulu. Also profiled are the Family Development Program of Newark, N.J.; the Wiltwyck School in New York; the Indian Nurses of California, Inc., Oakland; St. Christopher's Hosptital for Children in Philadelphia; the Family Stress Center in San Diego; and the Child Protection Center, Research Foundation of Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C. Each of the project profiles contains a discussion of the issues involved in starting the project and describes staffing issues. The organizational structures of the centers are described, the linkages established are identified, and the legal issues with which the centers have been involved are discussed. Community concerns and program priorities are also discussed. Finally, the goals and/or objectives of each center are listed, and statistical information concerning the centers' operations are given.
