Abstract
The corpus delicti for burglary and property damage includes willful or forcible entry into a dwelling without the owner's consent, and damage, injury, or destruction of the owner's property. The removal of soil or rocks from recognized thoroughfares is also covered in this category, along with damage to signs on public or private property, and trespass. Felonious damages, under the California Penal Code, are damages in excess of $1,000. Damage assessments are made on the basis of what it would cost to repair or replace the property. A final form of property damage involves willfully defacing property without an owner's consent through the use of paint or other liquids. The basic intent of property damage statutes is protecting the property of persons and public entities from unwarranted intrusions or incursions. The participant workbook includes a unit overview, test questions, and supplemental activities. An instructor's answer key is also included.
