The NWG and the FPSC seek to determine the needs for information and statistics of the various Canadian Federal, provincial and territorial departments, and in terms of existing systems, concepts and procedures, make recommendations for an overall strategy to achieve compatability and comparability of justice information and statistics. The records of the fifth and sixth meetings of the NWG of the FPSC in November 1979 and July 1980 are presented. Topics discussed included (1) the New Brunswick proposal for a pilot criminal justice information system in adult provincial courts; (2) justice data collection activities in Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick; (3) evaluation of NWG activities; and (4) review of selected projected activities. Another section provides detailed progress reports on all 10 NWG projects. An annotated bibliography of about 23 references including NWG publication and other documents, is provided. The last section describes NWG involvement with the National Project on Resource Coordination, which was formed in November 1979 to better coordinate justice statistics resources.
