Research designs for the evaluation of eight Alabama juvenile justice programs are presented.
Abstract
The programs include juvenile probation departments in Macon and Dale counties, juvenile detention facilities in Mobile County and the Coosa Valley region, group homes in Colbert and Lauderdale Counties and in Morgan County, and Youth Aid Bureaus in Shelby and Tuscaloosa. The proposed designs are to be carried out by the program staff and local communities, with a minimum of outside help in most cases. Several of the programs are innovative and may serve as models for other programs. For each program, the geographic area and program components are described. Program goals and evaluation criteria are next presented. The research design, criterion measures, forms, and recordkeeping procedures are explained. Extensive chapter appendixes present recommended data collection instruments and related infomration. Chapter reference lists are also included. The research designs were prepared by the Center for Correctional Psychology at the University of Alabama under a grant from the Alabama law Enforcement Planning Agency.
