The functions of the commission include reviews of statutory law, common law, and judicial decisions, with a view to its systematic development and reform, including the codification, elimination of anomalies, repeal of obsolete and unnecessary enactments, and reduction in the number of separate enactments. Several projects initiated in 1974 are discussed. A research project on family law dealing with family maintenance, children's rights and maintenance, and marriage laws is discussed. A study of the law affecting consensual personal property security transactions is also discussed. Projects initiated in 1975, including the consumer credit law project, are examined, and Provincial legislation regarding offenses that have quasi-criminal penalities or sanctions attached is reported. Findings of research into proposed conflict of interest legislation are included. Also discussed are projects initiated in 1976 and 1977, including a study of occupiers' liability law, a medical-legal project, and the administrative law project. A review of the matrimonial property project is also included. Contacts with other organizations (i.e., the Saskatchewan Law Foundation) to ensure funding of the projects are reported. A list of commission publications and the text of the act to establish the commission are included.
