Abstract
The Criminology Research Fund administered by the council received a total of $60,000 during the year, including $30,000 from the Australian government and contributions from each State based on population. The council funded 13 research projects during the year covering topics such as juvenile delinquency, aspects of police work, sentencing, and women offenders. It received six reports, most of which evaluated components of Australian criminal justice systems. At the end of the year, the Council had 22 research projects in progress covering topics such as recidivism, sentencing, multiproblem families, juvenile delinquency, psychosocial topics, and investigations of various aspects of the Australian criminal justice system. Other projects focused on gun ownership in Australia, community treatment programs, police recruitment and retention, and court delays. Tabular data are included.
