Abstract
The film explores the importance of pretrial preparation and demonstrates appropriate courtroom behavior for both a firefighter and his supervisor when appearing as witnesses in an arson investigation trial. The film emphasizes that arson investigators must show that (a) there was a fire, (b) that it was set wilfully and maliciously, and (c) that there must be proof, beyond a reasonable doubt, that the fire was set by the defendant. The film is intended as a training tool for fire service, law enforcement, and insurance personnel or anyone who testifies in an arson case. Suggestions on how firefighters can be more effective court witnesses are included.
