There are 49 adult institutions operating in Ontario. These include 28 jails, eight detention centers, and 11 correctional centers. There are two forestry camps providing an outdoor work environment for 40 to 60 inmates per camp. In addition, the ministry operates 31 residential satellite facilities in the community.
