Prepared by Virginia's Department of Corrections, this annual report for 1980 presents data on juveniles and their families handled by juvenile court services and on adults supervised by the probation and probation services.
Abstract
This report not only covers the work loads of the juvenile court service units but also measures the other services delivered by these agencies. The juvenile court services are responsible for intake referral, transfer reports used in waiver hearings, social history reports requested by judges, reviews of foster care placements, probation and supervision of juveniles, aftercare supervision, and family counseling. Statistics on these activities are presented for five regions and the individual districts within each region. A brief narrative describes each service and compares regional statistics. An introduction to the information on adults supervised by the Division of Community and Preventive Services notes trends in probation and parole caseloads and analyzes client flow. Statistics on probationers and parolees received from the circuit and district courts are presented for the 39 adult probation and parole districts and the 5 administrative regions in which they are located. The number of juvenile counselors and probation and parole officers in each region are provided. Maps and tables are used throughout the report. An index of localities is included.
