The activities of four departments are reported: the Secretariat, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the National Parole Board, and the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC). The reorganization of the Secretariat with new emphasis on its policy and program role at the Federal and Federal-Province levels is discussed. The activities and projects undertaken by the policy and security branch, and the programs branch are detailed. Organizational and administrative features of the RCMP are presented, accompanied by organizational charts, graphs, and tables. Additional data and illustrations depict the RCMP's activities in criminal operations in such areas as commercial crime, drug enforcement, international police activities, electronic data processing security, and policing the North. Major activities of the National Parole Board are discussed in the areas of clemency, parole guidelines, and policy development. Conditional release statistics for 1977-80 are also presented. The reorganization of CSC is described, and activities of both the newly organized branches and the older branches are detailed. Organizational charts of the Secretariat, the RCMP, and CSC are provided. Inmate statistics tables are appended.
