In addition, this 1981 directory lists costs of inmate care, numbers of personnel and inmates, directors' names for all facilities, and addresses and telephone numbers.
Abstract
Within the section for each State, four main categories of adult and juvenile services -institutions, parole boards, parole services, and probation services -- present information which explains the organization of specific services. Approximately 1,600 institutions and over 3,500 individuals are listed, with the directory including data on military correctional facilities. Besides the individual listings of facilities there are tables summarizing (by State and Province) (1) personnel statistics; (2) types of personnel systems; (3) operational budgets and capital expenditures; (4) rates of recidivism; and (5) numbers of and demographic information on juveniles and adults in community homes, on work release, or on furlough programs, adults and juveniles in institutions, clients on probation or after care, and prisoners on death row. Also included is a brief history of Florida's correctional system. The directory also contains an index to the names contained in the directory, the text of the American Correctional Association code of ethics, a representation of the organizational structure for 1980 to 1982, and lists of grants, contracts, and publications.
