The viewer follows the police officers in station house 10 as they investigate tips, help accident victims, perform traffic duty, and engage in other normal activities of their daily schedules. A main theme running through the film is that there are no easy solutions for the social problems with which the police have to contend daily. They help a sick, elderly man to get to a hospital for care, try to deal with a drunken woman who really prefers to stay on the street, help control onlookers during a fire and aid in the fire investigation, arrest a shoplifter, and come to the aid of a young girl who was gang-raped after being forcibly drugged. Viewers experience first-hand the search for robbers in an area of apartment buildings, which entails a search of every apartment in the area; see the street action during night patrol; and witness the effects of the drug culture on criminal activity (crime has increased). The film concludes with the funeral processing for a motorcycle police officer who was killed during a bank robbery.
