A series of line graphs which show the New York City Police Department crime index by month and crime for the years 1978-80 introduces the report. Crime index tables show the numbers of Part I crimes by borough command for the current month (December, 1980), the numbers of such crimes for the year, and comparisons in numbers and percentages with the previous year. Other tables show Part I crimes locations for December, 1980, and the value of property stolen and recovered in 1979 and 1980. In addition, a time analysis (day or night) of New York City felonies during 1980 is presented. The report also indicates arrest data for the city as a whole (including age data for those arrested) and by department units and other police agencies. Separate data for gambling arrests and narcotics and drug arrests for 1980 are included. Next, summonses data by unit and misdemeanor for the city as a whole are compared with the previous year, and hazardous violation arrest and summonses data by precinct and type of violation are presented. The report's final section contains the crime comparison report for the city and by precinct for all the types of Part I crimes, misdemeanors, and violations.
