In addition, people can deter entry by installing second locks, securing windows, keeping dogs, and using the most appropriate burglar alarm for their residence. Finally, individuals can make entry unprofitable for a burglar by marking all valuable items with an engraving tool, by using safe-deposit boxes for currency and valuable documents, by concealing larger items such as silver, and by starting a neighborhood watch program to encourage neighbors to protect each other's property.
