Abstract
The 1970-1979 statistical tables for the State cover the seven major offenses divided into crimes against property and crimes against persons, drug law violations, sex law violations, and miscellaneous crimes such as drunk driving and arson. Clearance rates, arrest rates, police dispositions, and breakdown by offenders' sex are also provided. Statistics for the 10-year period are given for juvenile arrests, court caseloads, dispositions, sentencing patterns, criminal justice agencies' expenditures and manpower, and persons held in correctional facilities, jails, or under probation. Reference tables contain data for 1979 on crimes reported, adult and juvenile arrests, and juvenile probation for each California county. Adult and juvenile arrests are further categorized by disposition, race, and sex. Specific topics covered by juvenile probation statistics include intake referrals, removal from probation, and status of active juvenile caseloads. Several specialized tables are presented for adult felony arrestees convicted and sentenced. Supplemental tables show adult probation active caseloads by type of court and county as of December 31, 1979. A glossary is appended, along with a directory of California codes governing felony and misdemeanor offenses.
