Self-defense methods used by police, Federal agents, and all special military forces are described and illustrated to give a basic knowledge of the subject to police officers, students, and others.
Abstract
The self-defense techniques shown are based on the Japanese system of jiu-jitsu, the original art of unarmed defense, although improvements in the science of self-defense are also depicted. The text discusses how to practice these methods and presents special defense techniques for women. Captioned photographs explain key attacks and defenses basic to modern self-defense, the falling technique, wrist and arresting holds, choke holds, front and rear holds, and throws and leg trips. Other techniques shown are aimed at disarming assailants with knives or guns. Finally, a discussion of boxing techniques precedes illustrations showing how to break difficult holds when the opponent is also familiar with self defense.
