Sections focus on the adult division, with about 11,500 inmates and 4,500 employees; the juvenile division which administers 5 residential centers; and the community services division, which provided reentry services to a July 1980 population of 720 at its community correctional centers. The review of developments over the prior 10 years covers the period since the establishment of the Department of Corrections in 1970. Information is provided on volunteer services, legislation, the office of operations, the policy development division, and the office of program services. Also included is information on improvements in health and library services, affirmative action, advocacy services, correctional training programs, recreation opportunities, and management.
