This report explains the role of the Arkansas Consumer Protection Division, the provisions of various consumer protection statutes in the State, and consumer rights under those statutes.
Abstract
The Consumer Protection Division's primary functions are consumer education and enforcement of the Consumer Protection Code. The Code prohibits false or deceptive practices in the advertisement or sale of goods or services. Offenses such as pyramiding; bait and switch; and failure to identify flood, water, fire or accidentally damaged goods, among others, are explained. Advice for dealing with mail order, automobile, and other contracts are given. Other agencies handling consumer complaints are listed.
