The delinquents were selected on the basis of similar intelligence quotient, socioeconomic level, domestic status, and grade level. The Mini-Mult was developed for use with subjects who are uncooperative or psychologically disturbed to the extent that they cannot concentrate long enough to complete the entire MMPI. The Mini-Mult screens for such conditions as hypochondriasis, depression, hysteria, psychopathic deviation, paranoia, schizophrenia, and hypomania. Multiple discriminant analysis of variance revealed no significant difference between the performance of black and white delinquent subjects. Although white juvenile delinquents scored slightly higher than their black counterparts on the majority of scales, all differences were minimal. The Mini-Mult does not account for the differences in the various cultures, but it appears to lessen the bias that is attributable to cultural factors. Tabular data and 10 references are provided.
