This publication reports on the year's operations of correctional and rehabilitation programs for fiscal 1980 in the State of Ohio.
Abstract
Department organization is reviewed through a summary of its divisions and the State institutions under its authority. Two newly opened facilities are described -- Southeastern Ohio Training Center and the Women's Correctional Admissions Center -- as is the Columbus Correctional Facility, scheduled to close in 1983. Programs included in the report are those of community corrections; home furlough; inmate services, education, and grievance systems; citizen councils; court of claims; employee training; Ohio penal industries; and parole and community services. Federal funding and rising court commitments are also discussed. Tabular data and graphic material are provided for inmate education, penal industries, a historical outline, officers of the department, 1980 commitments, number of prison commitments, prison population, employees of the department, and financial operations. Illustrations are also given.
