This publication contains analyses of the legislation enacted by the 1980 Georgia General Assembly which influences the foundation and operation of the criminal justice system.
Abstract
The report affords criminal justice practitioners, State and local officials, and the public an opportunity to review the content of such legislation. Reviewed are bills from the State house (52) and senate (21), and resolutions from both houses (13). Each major piece of legislation is presented by an outline of its purpose and content, the expected effects of its implementation, and its impact on a particular facet of the criminal justice system. The origins and background of each piece of legislation are also explained. In addition to the synoptic review of the major legislation passed and signed into law 171, legislative acts of local interest are listed in numerical order by the originating chamber, along with the title of the act.
