At the March seminar, findings were reported from a survey of Illinois associate judges which aimed to identify areas felt to be the major obstacles facing the effective administration of high-volume courts. A panel discussion focused on whether the public is losing confidence in the judiciary and the reasons for and solutions to this problem. Five seminars focused on the topics of evidence, trial practice, traffic law, criminal law, and recent developments in civil law. The September conference included a discussion of jury selection and utilization and a report of a committee studying the modernization of jury administration in Illinois. Seminar topics were civil law, evidence, criminal law, the role and function of the trial judge, and chancery. Agendas for each meeting, memorial resolutions, other speakers' remarks and addresses, lists of Illinois judges by district, and maps are provided. Appendixes present the 1978 report of the study committee on the enforcement of support orders and results of balloting on issues raised in the report.
