The Law Reform Commission is mandated to keep under review all the laws of the Province, including statute law, common law, and judicial decisions, with a view toward its systematic development and reform, including the codification, elimination of anomalies, repeal of obsolete and unnecessary enactments, reduction in the number of separate enactments, and generally the simplification and modernization of the law. Programs and activities conducted during 1980 included attention to family law, consumer credit, administrative law, the sale of goods, products liability, and real property law. Final reports in 1980 contained proposals for a Consent of Minors to Health Care Act, an Occupiers' Liability Act, and a Definition of Death Act. Plans for 1981, commission personnel, the Law Foundation, other law reform organizations, commission publications, and the Law Reform Commission Act are other topics given attention.
