Significant accomplishments and relevant data of the Berkeley Police Department (Calif.) are presented in this annual report for 1980.
Abstract
The report contains the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics; demographic facts about Berkeley; an organizational chart; and narrative reports from each of the department's major subsections. Tables present data about plant and equipment, expenditures, personnel, motor vehicle collisions, major offenses, and Uniform Crime Reports. Missing persons, attempted and successful suicides, a police district and beat map, and other miscellaneous information also are given. A significant change in police operations was a reorganization that removed case management responsibility from patrol officers and transferred it to detectives assigned to investigations. This change was designed to make patrol officers more available to respond to urgent calls for service.
