This document provides materials which can be used at the State and local level to enhance public and official awareness of the policy of placing juveniles in adult jails and lockup facilities.
Abstract
The text explains how these materials can be used for a public education campaign about the plight of children in adult jails. Materials include sample posters for display and award-winning journalism articles which discuss the situation of juvenile offenders jailed in Georgia and juvenile jailing practices in Abilene, Tex. Public service messages which are available as part of a national campaign designed to increase public awareness of the abuses suffered by such juveniles are also included. Information about how to obtain the materials featured in the booklet is given.
