Abstract
The YOSB is an administrative unit within the Division of Classification and Community Services of the South Carolina Department of Corrections with the responsibility of implementing the Youthful Offender Act. As mandated, the YOSB has the primary functions of presentence investigation, institutional services, and parole and aftercare services. Two branch boards have been established. The Youthful Offender Parole Review Board determines initial release and any subsequent release dates of all youthful offenders, and the Youthful Offender Parole Revocation Board determines parole revocation in cases where youthful offenders have allegedly violated the conditions of their release. A glossary of legal terms is appended.
