Data are provided on salaries of State court judges as of July 31, 1981, along with information on future salaries and pending legislation.
Abstract
As of July 31, 1981, the salaries of associate justices of the highest courts range from $38,468 to $76,498, with an average of $53,034. The median salary is $50,500. The current salary range for intermediate appellate court justices is $40,000 to $71,718, with a mean of 452,328 and a median of $50,200. General trial court judges are paid between $33,000 and $66,900. Their mean salary is $45,633 and the median $44,700. Salaries of State court administrators ranged from $27,820 to $72,196. Their mean salary is $45,318, and their median is $42,125. The tables list by State the salaries paid to associate justices for the highest court and intermediate appellate court, along with State-paid salaries of general trial court judges. Salaries are also listed by State for courts of appellate and general jurisdictions and State court administrators. Future salaries and pending legislation are discussed.
