The twelfth report of the Ontario Criminal Injuries Compensation Board (Canada) highlights decisions made by the board for the period April 1, 1980, to March 31, 1981.
Abstract
The board functions under the Compensation for Victims of Crime Act, 1971, which requires that the board consider an award for injuries to victims of crime when there is adequate and reliable evidence. In addition, the board is required to consider all relevant circumstances including the victim's behavior at the time of the incident and the victim's cooperation with law enforcement agencies. The board holds hearings in various locations to facilitate applicants and to generate a better understanding of the board's work across the province. The report presents a summary of applications and disposition, consolidated summary of awards, and a summary of decisions for fiscal year April 1, 1980, to March 31, 1981. Tables are included.
