The pamphlet describes how neighborhoods and communities can be organized to prevent crime, mentioning target hardening techniques and community anticrime groups such as Block Watch; discusses school anticrime programs; and outlines measures businesses and churches can take to resist crime. Crime safety tips for persons at home, on the street, or on the highway are suggested along with those which might make it more difficult for a burglar to enter a home. Tips on landscaping, gates and fences, garages, exterior doors, windows, locks, alarm systems, etc., are noted. Measures that women can take to prevent purse snatching and rape and the type of suspicious activity that citizens should reprort to the police are suggested. Reporting procedures, a sample home security checklist, a sample personnel property inventory, and suspect identification chart are included. Different types of locks are illustrated.
