The quarterly reports cover April-June 1981, and the final evaluation report reviews the overall project period (1979-81). The Community Programs Unit reports on the maintenance of neighborhood block watch programs and the expansion of the Fleet Watch Program, a program which enlists and trains drivers in company fleets that do field business throughout the city, so they may be alert to and know how to report crimes in progress. Videotapes informing citizens of various crime prevention methods are also reported to be under consideration for production. Special events and activities are summarized, and data on staff field activity are provided. The Education Unit reports on crime prevention education programs conducted in elementary schools, youth organizations, and senior citizen groups. The Crime Analysis Unit reports continued progress in automated information flow, such that the Knoxville Police Department has more crime and operational information at its disposal than at any time in its history. The final evaluation report generally indicates that CCPP has reduced certain types of crime in specific geographic areas and has created the foundation for long-term crime prevention community projects.
