Abstract
The National Runaway Youth Program in 1979 provided funding for 164 runaway youth programs which have provided services to over 43,000 runaway youths and their families located in 47 States, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, and Guam. The national toll-free communications system was funded for the fifth year, and a management information system was implemented and automated. The Program's essential services (outreach, information and referral, etc.), supplementary services (family counseling, medical and legal services, etc.) and procedural requirements (referral linkages, accessibility) have been set in place to respond to the program's legislative goals. Current demonstration projects for runaway youths and their families are listed, and profile data on 74 percent of the 43,000 youths served by the program are provided. Tables are included. Program evaluation plans are appended.
