The security survey is a site inspection designed to identify security weaknesses and make recommendations for strengthening security that will deter burglary. Normally, such surveys are conducted by police personnel. The security checklist is completed on the first visit by an inspector, who may be a police officer, a special service technician, or a trained volunteer. The checklist is filed for from 60 days to 6 months, at which time a followup contact is made to determine compliance with recommendations.
