The program was established in 1967 to assist crime victims by providing compensation for victims of certain crimes or dependents of deceased victims and for indemnification of private citizens for personal injury or property damage suffered in the prevention of crime or apprehension of a criminal. For this reporting period, the commission received 441 new applications from victims for compensation and disposed of 309 of them.
