Abstract
Following a chronology listing each incident by date, there is a list of terrorist groups by country with a description of each group and its recent activities. Appended tables depict the current strength, status, and areas of activity of the Red Brigades Columns (Italy), Afghan guerrilla movements, factions of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), and West Germany's right wing or neo-Nazi groups. Other data included describe casualties (1979-80) of the Israeli-PLO conflict and terrorist attacks and persons wounded or killed in West Germany (1967-80). The author also compiled a list of major terrorist camps by countries and statistics on terrorism (including bombings) in Italy, Spain, Turkey, Colombia, El Salvador, Northern Ireland, Iran, and the United States. Other data cover Soviet and American aircraft hijackings, the status of political prisoners (1980-81), forcible and nonviolent incursions into diplomatic missions (1970-81), antiterrorist units, and estimated Soviet subsidies for covert action.
