The project consisted of a pilot treatment approach, community mobilization, training and coordination of involved community agency and social services personnel, establishment and maintenance of a citywide information clearinghouse, and a crisis telephone service. The evaluation concluded that the project established an excellent set of services and achieved the goals of the original project proposal. Over 200 youth were impacted by the treatment system over the 2 years of the project. The interim report, issued on July 27, 1981, deals with two of the major goals of the project: the monitoring of direct-service subcontract agencies and the clients they treated and the gathering and dissemination of information on PCP to the community. Data on the amounts and types of services provided by the subcontract agencies are presented, as well as a description of the demographic, psychological, and drug use characteristics of all clients. The reference file is described, and the articles included in several standard information packets are listed. A number of attachments related to client data collection, community activities, and information dissemination are also included. The report to LEAA which gives an overview of the project's accomplishments and problems covers delays in subcontract agencies start-up, the clearinghouse component, community training and mobilization, and the pilot treatment agencies. Attachments give an account of furniture and equipment purchases, community involvement activities, and client data-collection documents used by the subcontract agencies.
