This report summarizes and analyzes the criminal cases filed and disposed of in the U.S. District Courts during fiscal year 1968.
Abstract
It covers the characteristics of criminal defendants disposed of in the 89 district courts during 1968, describes the criminal defendants disposed of in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and contains detailed statistical tables. The report indicates that there were 31,843 criminal defendants disposed of during 1968 in the U.S. District Courts, exclusive of the District of Columbia, and criminal trials totaled 4,807, a 14-percent increase from 1967. For the District of Columbia in 1968, a total of 1,892 defendants were disposed of by the U.S. District Court, a 72-percent increase over the 1,101 defendants disposed of in 1967.
