The Board has received 1,416 claims, of which 793 qualified for benefits, 156 were withdrawn or still in process, and 467 did not qualify for benefits. The most frequent causes of nonacceptance were lack of evidence of a scheduled crime, the benefit entitlement being less than the minimum amount of $150, and the failure to report the crime or cooperate with police. The main crimes involved in these cases were common assault (48 percent), robbery (11 percent), murder (11) percent, attempted murder (9 percent), and intent to cause bodily harm (6 percent). A total of 58 pensions are being paid, 29 for permanent disabilities and 29 for dependents in fatal cases. Tables are included.
