A statistical description of the Massachusetts Department of Correction furlough program for the year 1981 is presented, along with a brief overview of the program; furlough characteristics of the last 9 years are compared.
Abstract
A total of 8,196 furloughs were granted in 1981. The number of individuals furloughed was 1,248. The escape rate by furloughs granted during 1981 was .4 percent, and the escape rate by individuals furloughed was 2.7 percent. Eight footnotes and supplemental tables are appended.
