Special concerns regarding women's mental health in prison are discussed, including suicide, depression, the use of psychotropic drugs, and other signs of deteriorating mental health.
Abstract
Special problems arise because of judicial selection in sentencing, inadequate medical services and programs, and negative effects of prison control methods. The need for greater information and increased mental health services is noted. (Author abstract)
