A total of 564,775 crime Index offenses were reported in 1981 in Illinois, a decrease of 5.6 percent compared to 1980. Violent crimes accounted for 50,647 Index offenses, or 9 percent of the total.
Abstract
The number of property crimes decreased 5.3 percent, compared to 1980. The report explains the Illinois Uniform Crime Reporting (I-UCR) program; gives crime trends for Index and non-Index crimes; and presents crime Index and crime rate data for law enforcement agencies, railroads, other agencies, and Standard Metropolitan Statistical Areas. It also provides offense and clearance data and law enforcement agency information pertaining to officers killed, assaulted, and employed. Graphs and numerous tables are included, along with the Illinois Revised Statutes, Chapter 38; and I-UCR Offense codes.
