In a 12-month followup, three variables were found to be significantly related to recidivism: employment, age at first arrest, and the number of address changes. In addition, the more hours the probationers reported they spent in pool halls, bars, and nightclubs at the beginning of the study, the lower their chances were of maintaining employment during the followup period.
