Subjects were 132 male parolees and 54 parole officers. The theories of sequence of adaptation and social structure were used to explain the influence of parolees' age on his perception of the utility of parole functions. By means of a Rehabilitative Value Perception Scale constructed for the purpose, it was found that those parolees who were older had significantly more favorable perceptions of parole functions. A comparison of perceptions by parolees and parole officers showed that the older parolees has as favorable a perception as those of the parole officers.
